Reporters who are interested in covering Anime USA are eligible for press passes. A press pass allows members of the press to enter the convention without paying a fee, to receive early entrance and preferred seating at some events, and attend conferences with Anime USA guests.

To receive a press pass for Anime USA, applicants must first pass a screening process based on planned coverage and previous work. Please send an email to either This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with a few samples of your past coverage and plans for AUSA.

Eligible applicants will be notified through email and added to our official press list. Once notified, press members can expect to pick up their passes the day of the convention with the presentation of a photo ID.

FAQ

I am a student reporter. Do I qualify for a press pass?
You are definitely eligible to apply. Many AUSA Marketing and Press staffmembers were or are jounalism students, so that is encourage.

I write for a personal blog but I cover anime and conventions. Am I eligible?
Personal blogs will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The key that we are looking for is frequent activity (i.e. you're posting at least weekly) and that the majority of your site's focus is relevant to AnimeUSA's audience (i.e. you're posting a random anime article on what is otherwise a business blog).

I am a photographer/filmmaker. Do I qualify for a press badge?
We consider every medium of journalism out there, from Taiwanese CG recreations to manga news.

Does a press badge get me anything?
While a press badge gets you access to all main areas of the con, it does not give you the following:
- It does not get you a guaranteed interview with our guests. As a courtesy to them, we keep their interviews limited, especially that of our Japanese guests.
- It does not cover rooms, food and travel.

How do I obtain an interview with AUSA's foreign guests?
Please send any questions for foreign guests no later than 14 working days before the start of the convention. We require this time in order for our translators to prepare the questions. This ensures not only a proper translation, but also allows for cultural differences, removes inappropriate questions, etc.
