Cosplay's all about style. And our cosplay guests are all about cosplay! The members of Cupcake Cosplay and Yaya Han are our cosplay guests this year, so read on to read their bios!

Cupcake Cosplay

Cupcake Cosplay started back in 2007. As a group, they are most well known for their skit performances, craftsmanship, and of course their big poofy dresses. (Thus the cupcake title was born.) This year alone, the girls of Cupcake Cosplay have been featured on Time.com, as well as taking part in the upcoming “Cosplay: The Documentary.” The girls are thrilled to be making their first guest appearance at AnimeUSA, which they were chosen to be the Yume Cup representatives last year. Just always remember that Cosplay Rocks!

LadyAvaCosplaying the longest out of the cupcakes, Lady Ava is the "crossplayer" of the group. Starting in 2001, she is a self-taught seamstress with over seventeen years of extensive theater and film training. She is also the techie of the group, usually editing the music and video for skits, as well as organizing them. After meeting Starlighthoney and Breathlessaire at AnimeUSA, the cupcakes became the performance group they are today and have not looked back since. Born and raised in Jersey (and yes, she doesn't pump her own gas and is proud of it), she is excited to return to AUSA this year as a guest.

BreathlessaireBreathlessaire's love for Japanese animation began at an early age; running home from school to watch her favorite shows Sailor Moon and Ronin Warriors. It is important to notate that although her love began at an early age, her obsession, however, did not began until 2006. That was the year Breathlessaire cosplayed as "Big Foreheaded Haruno Sakura." It is to be said that the world of Cosplay has not only shaped her life in dramatic ways, but it has also provided her with an opportunity to become an excellent seamstress, a great performer, and an amazing person. When Breathlessaire competes, she often walks away with craftmanship awards, providing her with sufficient morale boosts which help her continue to strive for success and perfection. Her much desired accomplishments have come to fill her with great pride for the art that is cosplay and gain immense respect for her fellow cosplayers.

StarlighthoneyStarlighthoney's love for Japanese animation began as early as she wasable to start performing at a very young age. Most of her youth was dedicated to enhancing her performing skills which consisted of choir concerts at all levels as well as theater plays. Starlighthoney never failed to see her intent and desire to wear what she considered to be the cutest of outfits which were compiled of interesting designs she saw in shows. It was around this time in her life that she opened up her eyes to the hybrid world of cosplay; which consisted of a delicate combination of design, art and performance.

In 2006 she begin cosplaying by participating in a local anime festival. Although without much experience, she created her first outfit that she would use as her expose to the world of Cosplay. It was at this point that she began enhancing her designs: she used small costumes as a starting point; her performances became more eloquent and better prepared. Each and every costume and performance was a fruitful result of dedication, passion, and true labor of which its epicenter was the love of the character she is cosplaying. Over the years, Starlighthoney has done a remarkable job at perfecting an art, one which she continues to improve upon with each Cosplay design and performance.
